  • QA Tester

    Summary:

    The studio formerly known as Irrational Games is looking for a temporary embedded QA Tester. In this role, you will support and validate the development of our next title, which can include testing around game development tools and pipelines.

    Responsibilities:

    • Review design specs to create accurate test cases and test plans around features
    • Accurately execute all assigned test cases
    • Provide in engine unit and integration tests for features and systems
    • Enter detailed, but concise, bugs into the bug database
    • Regress fixed bugs on each release as needed
    • Provide qualitative assessments on the title’s playability upon request
    • Able to prioritize workload according to the projects direction and milestones
    • Reproduce issues for programmers and designers as needed
    • Work closely with other QA members and development team to accomplish goals.
    • Coordinate with our outsource QA team for post integration testing

    Skills:

    • Technically proficient with PC and gaming consoles
    • Familiar with Unreal 4
    • Experience with Windows, MS Office products, and Database software

    What We’re Looking For:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum age of 18 years and above
    • 1+ year of QA experience, preferably in a development studio environment
    • Basic understanding of source control
    • Ability to learn new toolsets quickly
    • Understand the benefits and uses of automation
    • Ability to test both 3D games repeatedly, while listening and looking for bugs
    • A positive attitude with the ability to work in a team environment
    • Reliable, and can be counted on to work all scheduled shifts
    • Capable of working any mandatory overtime; which can occur during the work week, weekends, and occasional holidays
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.

  • Senior Animator

    Summary:

    The studio formerly known as Irrational Games is looking for a Senior Animator that is experienced working on systemic and cinematic character animation, player hand and weapon animation, facial animation, and everything in-between. As a member of a small team, you will bear the responsibility and ownership for a major portion of the game. You will work directly with other disciplines to create memorable narrative moments and character performances.

    Responsibilities:

    • Animate characters, complex machinery, weapons, vehicles, etc. in Maya.
    • Work with motion capture data, including clean up and possibly shooting and/or directing.
    • Keyframe animation on both organic and mechanical rigs.
    • Facial animation, both in Maya and procedurally in engine.
    • Co-Design, implement, and document the animation pipeline.
    • Work directly with animation outsources as necessary.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • 5+ years’ experience in animating for video games.
    • Shipped at least two titles as an animator.
    • Strong understanding of animation principles.
    • Experience in animating systemic gameplay as well as narrative cut scenes.
    • Excellent organizational skills, as well as being a self-starter.
    • Extensive knowledge of game industry animation styles, technology and tools.
    • Extensive knowledge of game development process, including advantages and limitations.
    • Works well under pressure, delivering high quality content with minimal supervision.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Proficient preferably in Maya, although other animation software will be considered.
    • Highly collaborative, with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Unreal 4 experience highly desirable.
    • Experience in managing outsource animators a plus.
    • Experience with creating storyboards or animatics highly desirable.

  • Senior Tools and Automation Programmer

    Summary:

    The studio formerly known as Irrational Games is looking for a Senior Tools and Automation Programmer. In this role, your primary responsibility will be developing the tools necessary to support the testing of highly systemic features within the Unreal Engine 4. You will also be responsible for the management and development of our automated build infrastructure.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and implement QA specific automation tools for the purposes of unit and integration testing a highly systemic product. These tools should generate concise reports to track the health and direct the improvement of various systems over time. These tools also need to be built with outputs that are easily consumable buy non-technical dev team members across multiple disciplines.
    • Design and implement tools and technology to support build and engine pipelines (such as live-editing, iteration workflow, and asset compilation and processing).
    • Work on run time engine tasks as needed to support specific project requirements.
    • Identify requirements and build infrastructure to support the administration of scalable game services.
    • Manage automation of provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and alerting for live titles.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • 5+ years’ experience in the game industry with at least 3 shipped AAA titles on PC.
    • Strong grasp of principles and tools for operational monitoring and alerting, particularly metrics collection and analysis/visualization.
    • Experience deploying dashboards and tools to support team awareness of system health.
    • Experience with C/C++ and C# skills.
    • Previous experience with conceiving and implementing pipeline tools.
    • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins.
    • Expert level experience with build systems and script languages
    • Experience with Unreal 4.
    • Experience with Perforce.
    • Experience with the 3dsmax SDK and MaxScript.

  • Senior World Builder

    Summary:

    The studio formerly known as Irrational Games is looking for a Senior World Builder.  In this role, you will be helping to craft and create our worlds.  You will need to combine a strong aesthetic sense in creating visually interesting spaces with a solid understanding of level design.

    Responsibilities:

    • Layout, build and light levels from initial block out to final polish in Unreal 4.
    • Tell deep and meaningful stories within the environment.
    • Work with Art Team to ensure artistic unity with the entire project.
    • Work with the Design Team and the Lead Environment Artist to make gameplay and Levels function harmoniously.
    • Collaborate in the planning of project environments.
    • Sketch/Model/Concept ideas for 3D environments.
    • Excel at consistent aesthetic and technical quality in all environments.
    • Prototype rough level layouts quickly and efficiently.
    • Level Streaming setup and implementation.
    • Optimize Levels for performance and memory.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • 5+ years’ experience in the game industry with at least 3 shipped AAA titles.
    • Possess a wealth of experience in modular level construction and lighting/atmosphere.
    • Unreal Engine 4 experience, including terrain/landscape editing.
    • Advanced understanding of Physically Based Shading materials and lighting.
    • Able to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process.
    • Quickly learn and adapt to art and production pipelines.
    • Self-motivated towards solving creative problems.
    • Must be eligible to work in the US and willing to relocate to Boston.
    • Experience in First Person Shooters and semi-open (e.g. Borderlands/Shadows of Mordor) or open world game.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Strong foundational skills including composition, design, and color theory.
    • Advanced 3D skills using 3DS Max (modeling)
    • Highly proficient using Adobe Photoshop. (texturing)
    • Self-motivated, ability to work well independently.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.

    • Passion for narrative First Person Shooters a plus.
