“BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt” Prequel Announced!

We’re excited to announce the prequel to BioShock Infinite with Mind in Revolt.

BioShock® Infinite: Mind in Revolt, an e-book prequel to the forthcoming BioShock Infinite, will be available worldwide for the Amazon Kindle beginning February 12, 2013 for $2.99 and will be free for those who pre-order the game through Amazon.

BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt provides insight into the mysterious sky-city of Columbia prior to the events of BioShock Infinite and is written by Irrational Games’ writer Joe Fielder with creative director Ken Levine.

“Since we first announced BioShock Infinite, our fans have asked for more information about Columbia and the complex cast of characters that inhabit the floating city,” said Fielder. “After reading the e-book, players will have a better understanding of BioShock Infinite’s world, the struggle between its factions, and the motivations of key characters, like rebel leader Daisy Fitzroy, without spoiling the mysteries of BioShock Infinite.”

Also available worldwide for free to those who pre-order BioShock Infinite is the Industrial Revolution Pack, which grants exclusive access to three in-game gear items that boost combat abilities, 500 bonus in-game currency, five lock picks, and the Industrial Revolution puzzle game which unlocks stories of Columbia and allows players to pledge their allegiance to the Vox Populi or Founders through Facebook.

I’m assuming that this pre-order bonus will be retroactive with orders made months ago? Excited for the Ultimate Songbird Edition, hoping my order will actually be fulfilled despite the limited nature of it.

They did this last time too, announced industrial revolt, then in a later story told us how to get it. We’ll probably have to go back to wherever we pre-ordered to get a code. They haven’t announced that because the codes aren’t there to be picked up yet.

Yes, you could download it to your laptop but you would have to use Amazon’s (free) Kindle reader for PC. Amazon has Kindle readers for PC, iOS, Android, and probably more. You do not have to have actual Kindle hardware to read Kindle books.

Thanks gamertam and deschain for clearing that up. I’ll pick this up when it comes out knowing that I can read it on my PC or phone. Much obliged. :-)

I’m trying to pre-order it, but it says it’s 2.99 dollars when I search for it, but when I click on it it’s suddenly 6.24 dollars, any idea why this happens? Should I contact Amazon support?

Just finished reading it. The back and forth between Pinchot and Fitzroy was very engaging. A great taster to whet the appetite before the game comes out. I’ll be interested to read it again after playing, because I imagine my reaction to the story might change again.

Is it just going to be an e-book? no hard cover that will come with the game it self? just a book only able to be read on the kindle fire?

TECH STOCKS: Sony Rises After PlayStation 4 Launch; Techs Wobble

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Sony Corp. was one of the few gainers among tech stocks Monday after the consumer electronics company reported upbeat initial sales for its new PlayStation 4 gaming console in the U.S. and Canada, as much of the sector followed the social-media sector to close in the red.

Sony (SNE) closed with a gain of 1.2%, at $18.72 a share in the wake of last Friday's launch of the PlayStation 4 in most of North America. Sony said it sold more than 1 million of the gaming consoles in the first 24 hours after going on sale.

But few other tech stocks managed to withstand a market selloff that shaved almost 37 points, or nearly 1%, off the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index (RIXF), which closed at 3,949.

Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) shares fell by nearly $3, to $366.18. Evercore Partners analyst Ken Sena raised his price target on Amazon's stock to $450 a share from $400 due to what he sees as higher value coming from the company's Amazon Web Services business.

Social-media stocks had some of the day's biggest losses, as Barron's warned of a bubble in the sector in an article over the weekend.

Yelp Inc. (YELP) slumped almost 9%, to $64.43; Facebook Inc. (FB) fell by 6.5% to close at $45.83; Pandora Media Inc. (P) ended the day down by almost 6% to close at $29.71, and Twitter Inc. (TWTR) gave up 6.5% to end the day at $41.14.

Wunderlich Securities analyst Blake Harper started coverage of Twitter with a sell rating and $34-a-share price target. Harper called Twitter "a great company," but with an "overvalued stock."

Other losses came from Yahoo Inc. (YHOO), Google Inc. (GOOG) and Apple Inc. (AAPL).

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), which holds its annual shareholders meeting on Tuesday, was off by 1.7% to close at $37.20 a share. Analysts at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch cut their rating on Microsoft's stock to underperform, or the equivalent of sell, from neutral due to concerns about who may replace Chief Executive Steve Ballmer at the software giant.

Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) gave up 2.4% to close at $15.78 a share after Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore cut his rating on the graphics chipmaker to underweight.
