Get Yr Name In The Game

Update: It’s over! We’ll be contacting the winner and creating new in-game materials reflecting his or her name. Stay tuned!

You know who’s lucky? Irrational Games staffers. Not only do they get to work on games like BioShock, Freedom Force and System Shock 2, they get to have their names written into the fiction. Jerks.

You might even recall establishments like Sinclair Spirits and Robertson’s Tobaccoria in BioShock. Those were named after staffers Scott Sinclair and Shawn Robertson.

Here’s the thing about BioShock Infinite: Now it’s your turn.

With our new game we also want to pay tribute to our community. That’s why we’re giving one of you the chance to become immortalized within the world of Columbia! You could end up as the namesake of a building, a character, a business–whatever our artists come up with. It’s the ultimate bragging rights.

The submission period ended April 13 at 11:59PM Eastern Time. The winner will be announced in the coming weeks.

Interesting and perhaps successful strategy. Successful in what way? Well that has yet to be seen. Anyway, sweet deal! Even if I don’t get in, it will be awesome to see someone else’s name in there and be like, “That’s awesome!” Yeah this game will be fascinatingly amazing.

Unlucky then Marcus – you should check the rules (as should a few others who have submitted entries):

“Participants must be (a) legal residents of the 50 United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada (excluding Quebec), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxemborg, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, and (b) 18 years of age. ”

There are at least a dozen or so people who have posted in the comments who can’t actually enter, such as those from Brazil and Hungary.

Sorry guys, but rules are rules :(

“Eric Pany”, PANY is a short and very old family name from South-Bohemia around the area of Krumau / Krumlov, which belonged in the old days to the Austrian Imperial & Royal Empire.
When i look at my family tree -> during the 19th Century some of my forefathers were master tailors or hatters = So I would feel very happy if my family name would be the brand name of Hats or Clothes. Because in the old days Hats were very popular and everybody wore a hat, Gentlemen, Ladies, poor people and rich people ;) . So please Irrational Games put my name in because everybody in the game needs hats and clothes ;) .
    btw: @ Irrational Games: you’re awesome!!! :)
