Buildup of tension, black silence, then to the Wilhelm scream right when the TK wears off. Oh my God hearing that sound clip has to be the funniest thing I’ve heard you guys do. It’s a contender with Dog in a Wheelchair!

Amazing, amazing, amazing! I’d love to hear more Schyman in game when it gets going (pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!). It’s also fascinating to hear how the sound effects were done.

    And Elizabeth’s hair! It’s a good thing she isn’t bald :P

Yes. Please please PLEASE do everything you can to make sure Schyman writes the soundtrack. He did such an incredible job with BioShock! It was the very first quality I noticed about the game when descending into Rapture. The introduction to the city looking through the window of the bathysphere gave me CHILLS. I credit half of that to the music at that point.

Any chance of having a comentary like this in the final game, like in Portal.

Why not have a scene with a bunch of actors arguing over the best falling death scream for their play. One of which will be the Wilhelm and it’s immeadiately rubbished by the rest actors.

A Frankenstein clothed Elizabeth sounds scary, haha.

Thanks for taking the time to do these little pod-casts they’ve been great, something other studios just wouldn’t/couldn’t do. I can’t wait for more. I’m now going to use the Wilhelm scream scream as my new ring tone :D

I don’t get the spoiler warning at the start, especially coming from the notoriously spoiler-indifferent Shawn Elliott. It’s a trailer. You can’t spoil a freaking trailer.

Imagine for a second you knew nothing at all about BioShock Infinite or it’s setting, and only that you had played BioShock. From that perspective, listening to the podcast before watching the trailer would have spoiled the surprise that is set up in the trailer’s opening. We want to make sure we provide everyone the opportunity to experience that “oh wow” moment that you have when seeing the trailer for the first time from fresh eyes and and a clean slate, hence why we offer the warning to watch the trailer before listening to the podcast. That is such a fantastic moment in the trailer that we would hate to see a dedicated and excited fan miss the opportunity to experience it for themselves.

Way to put it Adrian! That’s something that I admire, and respect about Irrational Games. You offer the opportunity of an “oh wow” experience to everyone who comes across your games, and trailers.

I was reading about eugenics for school, and could the heart in the Alpha be the “immortal chicken heart” Alexis Carrel pioneered? 1912, the year Bioshock Infinite takes place was also the year that Carrel won the nobel prize for this invention. Furthering my theory, Carrel coauthored a book with fellow racist Charles Lindbergh, who given his aviation background, may have something to do with Columbia. These two men also being big supporters of eugenics also nicely ties into the propaganda that was displayed in the trailer….just my thoughts.

There’s actually a lot of this discussion that’s been going on in the forums – I started a thread on American exceptionalism and the jingoistic racism it’s based around and there’s some involved discussion in it:

You totally got me with the initial ‘is this more Raputre’ tease…

Disappointment led to confusion and then wonder throughout the space of 2 and a half minutes.

Also, instead of an Opera Singer with 2 mouths, you chose instead to have what seems to be Sander Cohen…? Can’t wait to find out more.

Love these podcasts, so informative and interesting.

Your philosophy with these interviews and the site in general is refreshing. Especially when you compare it to say, Valve’s.

Sound good! I laughed and enjoyed this episode.

The silence was a bit odd. I’d imagine that during the game it should be almost impossible to have that silence given all of the noise a city makes, let alone a flying one.

I look forward to scrounging the sound tracks for that Wilhem Scream.
