I want to work at 2k Australia, how can i best prepare myself?Hello, I wonder if this is the best place to ask? I'm currently doing my HSC at the moment, and I'm really focused on finding out the best course of action for becoming an artist on the 2k team. I'm thinking about going to Qantm, An Australia college that is apparently up there with the best. I heard people like AIE better but I'm not totally convinced since they don't offer bachelors degrees like Qantm do. I'm even considering Raffles simply because they offer the degree but are a lot cheaper and the scholarships seem to be a lot more substantial. I know that above all talent is what matters most, and that's ok, but how good would you have to be to have all talent and no qualification? I honestly think that given 2 years, It's possible that I can learn more downloading tuts or spilling out 50 bucks here and there for in depth instructional videos than I would forking out big sums like 43,000 just so I can slow my pace with people who are newer to it to get a little piece of paper saying that my work is 'satisfactory'. I bet it'd be convenient to say, hey I'm certified, because I've covered all the requirements, but wouldn't it be better to actually just take the time to go through my work and achievements? Maybe there's a way to teach myself everything I need to know then ask someone to test me so I can get a degree based on what I have without having to pay for use of campus teaching, equipment and resources that are budgeted by them probably based on what's easiest and most profitable. When employers such as yours look at a possible artist, how significant is it to have a degree in something like 3d animation? if I were just as good as people who topped the class for their degree, would I be considered just as evenly? What kind of qualifications do artists have at Irrational games and what level of skills got them hired? |

Sadly we don't have an office in Australia anymore. The best place to ask would over at the website for the 2K Marin office in Australia, http://www.2kmarin.com/ |
