Computer Hardware Geek Thread

So who is a computer hardware geek like myself? I love new gadgets and technology.

Here is a picture of my latest pickup. The new Microsoft Arc Wireless Keyboard. It is TINY!!

It is pretty cool. Super tiny. No number pad through and no directional pad. Just a single button with a directional pad on it. It is a little strange at first, but pretty comfy.

Share you cool gadgets.

First of all, apologies, Collin. I guess I don't 'fit' your 'hot new gdgts thread'.

Ever since the first - no, the first - Star Wars movie came out, I knew: 'the future looks ugly' ... so, I hate shiny things since I was eleven, I guess. (The ONE thing Lucas did right?)

(no - nothing prepared to show off - thats how this one machine looks all the time - the operating system is on a thumbdrive - Linux Knoppix 6.3 from CeBIT 2010)

I am the guy, who was excited for the CELL Blade! not the PS3 version, the kinda Duder, who would like to own 100 PS2s to glue them into a HPA Linux cluster, to run some medical software or other scientific simulations - still buying the latest NVIDIA BS cards (what are they doing there the last 2 years?!) just b/c of CUDA and GPGPU and dreams of owning FPGAs, despite the fact, that they cost a 5-digit number AND I would not know what to actually DO with them or having the time to really do something with them.

I used to run 5 different OS'sses on a single hdd, bought the first DirectX9 notebook to make it work with BSD and Doom3 a year later (no - it didn't - grilled the graphic-chip before, tried to repair the thing, worked for a couple more weeks) and to this day I like to open up every device/box I have, extra solder the capacitors (always this cheap stuffing in your beloved expensive notebooks) ... usually ending up in reduced functionality (once I made a PC actually BURN) or sometimes I really do make something 'magical' happen.

Also, being paranoid, using a bluetooth mouse or keyboard is a noo noo boo boo? Think about it, Duder. People can listen into what you're typing. No, really - always go for the cable. I guess, I'll stop here

I'm a hardware geek at heart. I always find myself looking at graphics cards, cool new keyboards and mice, and the cool stuff that makes you droll. Unfortunetly, I don't have enough money to ever buy any of it.
