Greatest Forums Ever!Okay, so this website has made me feel wanted in it's community. I officially feel like I can post in forums and not be attacked. Need I say, this is the greatest website ever? I'm spending more time on here than myspace, or facebook. Irrational Games, I love you!!! ♥ |

You said it Nomar, it really is great. I'm giving up on my other forums. I'm never getting in NeoGaf, my nice clan site has about 5 active members left and my fav game developer sites are complete, horrid, trainwrecks. My biggest fear here, is when Irrational DOES release their new game, the trolls will flock here. Then you will need some good mods, and I see some very good candidates here already. |

Mine too. But I trust in Irrational Games. As Collin is already on it, looking for mods. I know back after Call of Duty 2, I was on the Infinity Ward forums. They were fun, and awesome. But in May 2007 with the announcement of Call of Duty 4 came little kids, and immature adults. The IW forums were officially ruined, and have been ever since. I think with the name change to 2K Boston, and back to Irrational Games, people haven't yet completely discovered that the creators of BioShock have forums, and that they are, in fact, this amazing. From my experiences, with great titles, come greatly immature people - and you can make that a quote with Spider Man in the background with his head down. It makes me sad when you grow, watching a development company create title after title, loving every single one, and when it becomes viral, idiots ruin your experience with the company, and the community simply by trolling the forums. This is a little random, but there was someone who signed up a few weeks ago and posted some sex joke thread in the same day, and that was it. I reported it in a heartbeat. Because it's not suitable for these forums, which are very friendly and clean. Plus, once a person gets away with doing that, more will come posting stuff until it gets worse. I've watched many forums die in my lifetime, but I'm telling you now, if I.G. keeps it up, they will have long lasting, community based forums that run this smooth no matter what idiots come on here. So to everyone at Irrational Games, and especially Collin... Keep up the good work!!! |

I hear ya, been through that more than I would like to share. I always just deal with it, and never have taken the back-seat-mod approach. There is only so much you can take though. Listen to this man I.G.! "With great power, comes great responsibility." <Sorry, had to do it. |

I've actually been shocked at how insulated these forums have remained so far. It's been the same core group since January. I'm sure we'll see a much bigger influx now that there's real news (especially with people like me who get hooked on the achievement system), but I'm hoping we keep the original core of people as well. This place has fostered excellent discussion, helpful Q and A sessions and is, in general, a forum that I don't get bummed out visiting. I only drifted off for a few weeks really because it's summer and there wasn't a lot going on. Usually when I leave a forum it's because it's turned into Lord of the Flies. |

I like this forum, best I've seen so far. I really like the achievement Idea, and the Members are all very nice. It will change though, when we get closer to Bioshock: Infinite's release. |

I agree with you, I love the achievement idea and the members seem nice. It does seem a little slow but I think It will pick up as soon as more infinite info comes out. My only problem is the edit system, It disappears after a while. |

I think we've finally started to see some of the issues we've all been worried about (such as people managing more posts in five days than many of us have in eight months). Many of us who have been around already post a lot more than is probably logical and we've seen a few people just post buckets of nothing over the last few days to jockey themselves up the leaderboards. I don't think it's a big deal as long as it's only one or two people at a time, but I can't imagine the chaos and uselessness of some of the threads we'll see if we wind up with 1,000 people at once doing what some of the leaderboard chasers have been doing this week. Still, I understand that drive to push your way to the top--I just think that if you have more posts in a week than anyone else combined, you're really not having a conversation, you're just fapping. |

Well put. To go along with this, posts that are filled with "I's" and "me's" and don't actually offer anything to the discussion at hand can be considered fapping as well. While everyone is entitled to their opinion of course...most of these aren't opinions, they're self absorbed statements. These forums are getting a little bit watered down, but they're still better than 90% of the other gaming forums/blogs. Yes, that percentage is completely (well...98%) based on real data. |

I totally agree, these forums are VERY slick. Avatar cropping, achievements, friends list, etc. Great stuff, Irrational should totally encourage people to join when they go to PAX or other conventions in the future. |

You both are very correct. These forums are still some of the best out there. But I've seen quite a bit of people lately, just stating their opinion in a short sentence, and then posting again five minutes later, adding more to the topic when it should have been in their first post. That there is serious fapping. I think a possible way to resolve the issue, is if Irrational made it where one cannot post back to a topic within a time period unless someone else has posted. This ensures that people aren't just double posting for points. Of course, this is just a thought. And since were on the subject of self-absorbed posts; my post above might sound like I was making a self-absorbed statement. However, I was just sharing my experiences and points of view about these, and other forums. I apologize if it came across to any other way. |
